The library catalog can assist when determining a grade level for picture book - as well as other children's book selections.

When reviewing a book in the catalog, click on the cover art image to view additional information about the book.

Most children's book selections will detail a book summary, cover image, and reviews. Grade level suggestions are often included with professional reviews, particularly books reviewed by School Library Journal.

Reminder from the IRC News & Information blog: "Students are encouraged to preview, read and evaluate books before using them in a classroom setting. This step is necessary to determine if selected titles are appropriate for individual classroom situations. If you have questions about a particular title, consult with your professor or cooperating teacher before using it in the classroom."
